| We operate our duck hunts on the lower Laguna Madre, more specifically, Port Mansfield, Texas. Port Mansfield is located about 50 miles from Harlingen, and commercial air service is available form Southwest Airlines. An airport with asphalt runway for those who have private aircraft is also located in Port
Mansfield.
Port Mansfield is a small coastal fishing village well known for its fabulous fishing and fantastic duck hunting. There are several motels and a large quantity of privately owned homes available for rental on a short term basis. |
|

We can recommend several places to stay and eat. Since Port Mansfield is only about 75 miles from the
Mexican border, many hunters bring their spouses and after the hunt head to Mexico for "family time." |
THE HUNT:
We leave the dock about thirty minutes before daylight for about a half hour drive in the airboat up the sloughs to
hunting areas only accessible by airboat! Hunt includes the use of a retriever (or you may bring yours), decoys, and blind setup. I have hunted this area for 26 years and know the patterns and locations of the ducks.
Morning hunts go from legal hunting time. In the unlikely event that hunters have not limited out for the ride out and back, we hunt until noon. Hunters occupy a 2003 16 x 8 airboat, powered by a 504 HP Chevrolet engine with a four-bladed carbon propeller and
Teflon coating for running dry land. This boat is one of the safest, most dependable airboats in Port Mansfield.
Hunters need only bring waders, hunting license with appropriate stamp, steel shells, drinks and food, shotgun and the appropriate hunting clothing, preferably camouflaged. Please remember that good concealment is the cornerstone of a good hunt.
On the ride out hunters will see a vast array of wildlife, such as Nilgai antelope, whitetail deer, coyotes, bobcats, raccoons, and, if you're lucky, maybe an ocelot.
We hunt the sloughs of the original Colorado Arroya, well
know to hunters. On one side sits the famous King Ranch and on
the other, the Atascosa Wildlife Refuge. Hunters will be treated
to some of the most scenic concentrations of wildlife in the
state. In addition to the "blackened sky" of ducks,
numerous Snow Geese, Sandhill Cranes and shorebirds occupy this
area.
Hunters will enjoy an airboat ride like no other, usually
topped off by the largest concentrations of ducks on the Texas
coast. This makes for the experience of a lifetime!
